Tune Train is designed to help children gain a basic sense of rhythm, an understanding of musical notation, and a greater appreciation of music. Our tangible toolkit allows children to build a rhythm with the different pieces and listen to the train play their beat as it loops the track. As the conductor (of the train and the song), children can record and playback their creations.
My role in this project involved helping to develop the concept and design prototypes. This included creation of vector files and the use of the laser cutter, sensors, motors, and Arduino boards. I also designed the activity cards that accompany the tool.
